Fire & Fury Women’s League 2025 – Draft Rules

1. Teams & Squad Structure

  • The league consists of 4 franchise teams: Gryphons, Dragons, Phoenixes, and Unicorns.
  • Each team will draft 13 players from the player pool.
  • All teams must include:
    At least 5 players from the Women’s division
    At least 1 U19 player
    At least 2 U16 players
    The remaining 5 players may be chosen from club and school players.
  • Each team must also select a captain and a wicketkeeper as part of their squad.
  • Players do not have to be present at the draft in order to be selected.
  • All provincial players (Storm Women, U19s, U16) are guaranteed to be placed in teams.

2. Player Pool & Eligibility

  • A total of 91 players are eligible for selection.
  • All players confirmed availability at registration.
  • A player may only be drafted to one team.
  • Players not drafted will remain in a pool for possible injury replacement selections.
  • No post-draft trades are permitted. Only injury/unavailability substitutions will be considered.

3. Draft Format & Order

  • The draft will consist of 13 rounds, with each round focused on a specific category of player:
  • Captains (Round 1)
  • Women’s Players (Rounds 2-5)
  • U19s (Round 6)
  • U16s (Rounds 7–8)
  • Club/School Pool (Rounds 9–13)
  • Draft Order System:
    Round 1: Order randomly drawn (1–2–3–4)
    Round 2: Same as Round 1
    Round 3: Reverse (4–3–2–1)
    Round 4: Shuffled (2–1–4–3)
    Round 5: Shuffled (3–4–2–1)
    Then repeat from the top for rounds 6–13
    (ensuring all teams draft from each position across the draft)

4. Captains & Coaches

  • Each team is led by a coach, who is responsible for making draft selections.
  • Coaches will choose captains as their first draft pick

5. Draft Day Flow

  • The draft will be conducted live and streamed on Instagram Live.
  • Coaches will have access to player details prior to the draft to prepare.
  • Each round will follow this format:
  • Up to 1 minute for coaches to prepare at the start of each round.
  • Each team has 30 seconds to make their selection when it’s their turn.
  • Total estimated draft time: 60–75 minutes

6. Injuries & Replacements

  • Any injuries or unavailability post-draft must be communicated promptly.
  • Only players from the undrafted pool will be considered for replacements.
  • Final team lists (including replacements, if any) will be confirmed before the tournament.
